Dear brethren,

January 31-March 2 is set for my 85th preaching trip to the Philippines, 11th to New Zealand.  God first opened this door in 1995 when Jim McDonald brought me to the Philippines.  A great harvest of precious souls continues in that land and is spreading to other places such as N.Z. through the faithful efforts of Filipinos.

Our great God sees the hearts of people who are seeking Him and salvation – He has many ways to open doors to send the gospel to such precious souls.  Once when Paul pondered where to preach, “a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.  And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them” (Acts 16:9-10).  God still opens doors for us to find people seeking the truth.

God willing, I will fly January 31-February 1 from Louisville, Kentucky to Manila.  The next day will be used for various errands.  The Macedonian call will be answered for the next three days in Metro Manila at Pasig with Jun Abueva (Sat.), at Pavia Tondo with Ray Tacbad (Sun. AM), at Paranaque with Jimmy Battung (Sun. PM), and at San Miguel, Bulacan with Jimmy Lacambra (Mon.).

Dear brethren,

God willing, November 26-December 21 will be devoted to preaching God’s Holy Word in Malaysia and in the Philippines.  God opened a door through Jim McDonald for my first Philippine trip in 1995 and this will be the 84^th trip.  Now, God has opened a door through the invitation of Nicholas Rowe to preach in Mayaysia where he has labored with a small congregation of saints for many years.

Sinners from all nations, backgrounds, and walks of life become new men in Christ.  The new man is made in the image of Christ himself “where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all” (Col. 3:11).  Human distinctions fade away as we all are united in Christ.  Christ is the Savior of us all, dwells in us all, and makes us all the one new man.  God intends the gospel to go to all men in all nations, and he uses His saints as His agents and messengers to accomplish this greatest of all works in human history.

My flight from Louisville November 26 will arrive 28 hours later in Manila via Atlanta and Inchon, South Korea, on the 28^th Filipino time (the Philippines is 12 hours ahead of the U.S.).  The 29^th will be taken with local tasks and then the next day I hope to preach in Metro Manila at Meycauayan, Bulacan where Jaime Bobis has preached for years (he is bedfast now as the result of strokes).

December 1-5 Rody and Tessie Gumpad and myself will work with Nicolas Rowe in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia where Nick has labored in the gospel for years in this Muslim nation.  Many Filipinos work in Malaysia and we hope to make fruitful contacts among them as well as among Malaysians.

On the 6^th I will fly from Manila to Iloilo City, Panay Island to meet Jack Jaco.  He has arranged for us to preach there on the 7^th through the 9^th for a Baptist church and two Christian Churches.  In addition to studying the true conditions of pardon required by Christ, we will focus on the scriptural pattern for worship.

Saturday evening we will cross over to Bacolod City on Negros Island.  On Sunday we will go to San Miguel, La Carlota City and preach with Roy Matta.  The next day is scheduled for the church at
Magballo, Kabankalan City where Ronnie Carbadilla is an evangelist.
       
Tuesday will bring us to a Baptist church in Bacolod City contacted by Jack where we will explain the difference between the New Testament church and denominationalism.  The church at Cadiz City where Lyndon Navaro labors will welcome us on Wednesday to preach all day.  The 14^th-15^th are reserved for Victorias City where Jack preaches for a Bible lectureship on Marriage & Morals. About 100 will attend.
      
Saturday we travel from Bacolod City to Tacloban City on Leyte Island.  Our Sunday appointment is at the San Vicente church in Ormoc City where Willie Pelino preaches.  The next day we will be back in Tacloban City to labor with Nilo Zabala and the church meeting at Scandinavian Village.

On the 19^th a plane will bring me back to Manila so that I can purchase Bibles in various dialects the next day and to prepare to return home on December 21, God willing.

Dear brethren,

For the 82^nd time since Jim McDonald introduced me to the Philippine work, a schedule of preaching is now ready, for April 4-May 2, God willing.  This will be a unique opportunity because my son David, will join me for the 8^th time and his son Joel, will be with us for the 1^st time – to put a fire in his heart!

Thousands of young people have been baptized into Christ. This trip will focus on “Young in Age, Strong in Faith.”  Paul challenged Timothy, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Tim. 4:12).

January 13, 2023^rd Year of Our Lord
                              
Dear brethren,

A gracious God opened the first door for me to preach in the Philippines in 1995 with Jim McDonald and now the 81^st door is opening February 1-March 2.  This trip will include New Zealand and Australia as well, working with brethren I have not seen since August of 2019.

Our labors in the gospel are extremely urgent because the Final Judgment Day is fast approaching.  We live in the Gospel Age, the last dispensation of God and every moment brings us closer to the end of time.  Paul urged sinners and saints to prepare for the fearful reality of appearing before our Lord to hear his final pronouncement of our eternal destiny.  “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men” (2 Cor. 5:10-11).  This trip is planned in the hope of urgently persuading both sinners and saints to prepare for that last great day!

November 5, 2022^nd Year of Our Lord
                              
Dear brethren,

By God’s merciful providence my 80^th preaching trip to the Philippine Islands is scheduled for November 29-December 20.  Jim McDonald first took me in 1995.  What a great privilege it is to preach among souls who are so earnestly seeking for God and the truth of His plan for our salvation!  But there is another great blessing in this work: While preaching the gospel in cooperation with Filipino saints, I have learned many lessons about faith, hope, love, sacrifice, and service from their examples!

When there is such a great harvest of souls, two things are vitally needed.  There must be an abundance of teaching about the first principles of the gospel which sustains the harvest and there must be much teaching to strengthen and solidify the faith of new converts.  When the church at Antioch harvested Greeks as well as Jews, “the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord” (Acts 11:21).  The church at Jerusalem sent Barnabas to help “who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord” (vs. 23).  My trip will focus both on first principles and on exhorting saints to cleave to the Lord.
