Dear brethren,
Plans for my 87th Philippine trip are now complete. I thank Jim McDonald for taking me with him in 1995 and encouraging me through the years. Above all, I am indebted to God’s loving providence which includes my wife’s health and help. Thank you to all praying for her recovery – she continues to progress, which makes this trip possible. My 3rd trip to London and Paris was thwarted by covid but is renewed now.
A backlog of pressing work has delayed finalizing this trip including gathering Bibles, songbooks, food, clothes, etc. to ship in 35 large boxes plus, preparing bank wires to relay funds donated for the victims of the long drought. Thank you for making all of this possible! The drought is finally breaking and rains have begun.
When Jesus sent the 70 disciples on the limited commission preaching first to Jews, he said they must declare the coming of his new kingdom, confirming the message with miracles. All they had learned about salvation in Christ and his kingdom must be shared: “freely ye have received, freely give” (Matt. 10:5-8). Now that his kingdom has come, salvation is full and free – what we have freely received, we must freely share today!
July 26-27 I fly to London to preach Saturday-Sunday at the Brighton Church of Christ where Constant Coulibaly labors in the gospel. If possible, I will visit two more churches before going to Paris August 1 to work with Edwin Cortez Saturday-Sunday. August 5-6 will take me to Manila, God willing.
Elias Cruz preaches at Kapitbahayan & other places, and we will labor together August 7-8 at places he selects. On the 9th I fly to Zamboanga City in the Zamboanga Peninsula Region of Mindanao to meet Jonathan & Nanette Carino with Jack Jaco to labor with Alvin Miguel and the other saints there Saturday-Sunday. Monday we fly to Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur to preach with Ezekiel Carino at the Bogo church in a two day Bible lectureship for preachers.
The 15th we travel 3 hours to reach the church at Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental where Ramon Villamin and Nelson Flores (died July 8) have labored for years. On the 16th we fly to Cagayan De Oro City, Misamis Oriental Province in northern Mindanao to teach Saturday-Sunday with Stephen Carpentero.
Monday, we fly to General Santos City in South Cotabato. A Bible lectureship for preachers will be held there August 20-21 with Jolly Julom. The next day we travel to Digos City, Davao del Sur to preach with Ben Canada for half a day. That same day we continue on to Kidapawan City, Cotabato where Danny Angeles will gather denominational preachers for two days of study.
After worship at Kidapawan City on the 25th, we travel to Davao City to conduct a Bible lectureship for preachers Monday-Tuesday at the Downtown Church of Christ. Juanito Balbin preached here for many years but passed away February 6. His sons Dudley Ross, Sonni Dave, & Connie continue preaching.
On the 28th we will take a breather, then I will fly to Manila the next day, God willing. Friday-Saturday will be spent working with the deaf-mute saints at the Edsa-Pasay church. Tonyboy Hernado has labored with these saints for many years, but his father has never obeyed the gospel. A home Bible study is scheduled at his house on Friday and then lessons for all the congregation on Saturday.
My dear brother Jaime Bobis died April 23 and I plan to preach at Meycuayan, Bulacan on Sunday.
Monday I will purchase Bibles in dialects and prepare for the flight home September 3.
