Halbrook Philippine Report August 3-7

Friday, August 7, 2015
Dear family, brethren, and friends,
Greetings to all from the great island of Mindanao in the Philippines. While Keith Greer and Grayson Key are preaching on Palawan, I am teaching classes at Cagayan de Oro City Monday through Friday. Jhun Carpentero and Cyrus Gesulga invited preachers from far and wide for our classes on the book of Revelation and events relating to the end of time.

Halbrook Philippine Report July 28-August 2

Monday, August 3, 2015
Dear family, brethren, & friends,
Philippine trips often involve unexpected “adventures,” which normally start in the Philippines, but this time they started immediately Tuesday in Louisville when our flight was delayed 2 ½ hours because of mechanical problems. When Keith Greer, Grayson Key, and I arrived in Minneapolis, we literally ran to get on the international flight and barely boarded before the door closed! Of course, our luggage could not run with us, so it was a day late arriving in Manila. After we brought our suitcases and nine boxes of study material to the hotel about midnight Thursday, Elias Cruz helped us repack the boxes which he then sent ahead by air cargo on Friday to our upcoming destinations.

PLEASE SHARE THIS LETTER ON GOSPEL PREACHING IN THE PHILIPPINES!
May 19, 2015th Year of Our Lord

Dear brethren,

My 59th preaching trip to the Philippines and 5th trip to Australia is set for July 28-August 26, since my first Philippine trip with Jim McDonald in 1995.  Keith Greer, faithful evangelist at the Harrodsburg, KY church of Christ, will make his 10th trip with me.  Grayson Key, a faithful Christian here in Louisville, will join us for his first trip.  Though not a preacher, he is a capable teacher.  We must be busy preparing men for Christ’s return.  Christ said, “Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,  And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation” (Jn. 5:28-29).

HALBROOK REPORT: 58th PHILIPPINE TRIP Mar. 31-Apr. 28, 2015

Dear brethren,

By God’s good providence the Philippine preaching trip planned for March 31-April 28 has been successfully completed.  This is my 58th trip since the first one with Jim McDonald in 1995.  God promised in Isaiah 11:10, “And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.”  Mark Mayberry, evangelist and elder at the Adoue St. church of Christ in Alvin, TX, was an effective companion in holding up the banner of Christ with Filipino saints.  I presented 71 lessons and 61 people responded to the gospel call.

Saints Suffering From Severe Drought

Dear family, brethren, and friends,

The government of the Republic of the Philippines recently reported 30 provinces are suffering the effects of severe drought.  I have received numerous reports and appeals from brethren pleading for help.  Because of my travel in the Philippines during April and many duties awaiting when I returned home, I have been delayed in putting out a general appeal for help.  I saw the crops drying up and withering in some areas on my trip.

Home by God’s grace

April 28, 2015 (11:30 pm)

Dear family, brethren, and friends,

By God’s good grace and providence, the 24 hour trip home from the Philippines was safe in spite of some turbulence while we were flying.  Though my body and mind are exhausted, my spirit is always refreshed and lifted up by the experiences shared with Filipino saints in serving the Lord.  I am always amazed at what they accomplish serving the Lord with limited resources but great faith.  Their faith in God inspires me to seek a stronger faith.

Halbrook Philippine Report April 22-27

April 27, 2015th Year of Our Lord
Dear family, brethren, & friends,
It is a joy to report about the labors which so many of you make possible. As our work continued in northwestern Luzon, Mark and I went in different directions on Wednesday, Apirl 22. When we met at night, Mark reported six people were baptized. In the morning Rex Bayaca drove me to the Cacafean church of Christ in the mountains of Marcos, Ilocos Norte where Angel Pascua preaches. The building was full to overflowing including the brethren from the Elizabeth East congregation where Rex preaches. Since many young people attended, I presented the lesson “Young People, Read the Bible” and Gil Caindec translated.

Halbrook Philippine Report April 18-21

April 21, 2015th Year of Our Lord
Dear family, brethren, & friends,
On Saturday, April 18, Mark and I sent out reports, packed, and went to the Tuguegarao airport to take a plane to Manila. After saying our painful goodbyes to Rody, Tessie, and Junior Gumpad, we flew safely to Manila, waited four hours, and took a connecting flight to Laoag City, Ilocos Norte arriving about 7:00 PM. It was a joy to see brother Mat Sibayan, Sr. and Jr. and company. We immediately proceeded to our hotel, ate supper, and studied for Sunday’s lessons. I “crashed and burned” about 1:30 AM.

Halbrook Philippine Report April 16-17

April 17, 2015th Year of Our Lord
Dear family, brethren, & friends,
On Thursday, April 16, Mark Mayberry and I split up and went different directions to cover more ground. He preached for a rural congregation at Anonang where Geronimo and Gerald Ganela have labored. This is a new and growing work. About 60 attended today and four souls submitted to Christ in water baptism.

Halbrook Philippine Report April 11-15

April15, 2015th Year of Our Lord
Dear family, brethren, & friends,
Thanks to your prayers and God’s grace, the preacher training classes were very successful April 6-10 in Cebu City on Cebu Island. Jonathan Carino and his family, members of the Cebu City church of Christ, and other brethren rendered invaluable services behind the scenes. On Saturday, April 11, the men went home. One of the denominational preachers who was converted went home and shared what he had learned with his wife. He sent word that he baptized her into Christ.
