Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

First, I would like to introduce myself to each of you. My name is Zach Martin and I am a fellow brother in Christ who worships at Hebron Lane Church of Christ in Shepherdsville, KY where Ron Halbrook and David Dann are evangelists. As a 16-year-old, I decided to start attending Hebron Lane with my girlfriend (Taya Rush) in 2010. A couple of years later, I submitted my life to Christ in baptism. Since then, my girlfriend inherited my last name through marriage (6/10/16) and we have continued to grow in faith and love. Currently, Taya teaches Pre-K at Okolona Elementary school and I am a first-year medical student at the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

As a member at Hebron Lane, we have been blessed to sit at the feet of Ron. Four times a year, Taya and I are inspired as we hear Ron’s report on his Philippine trips. We have always been deeply interested in the Philippine work and have dreamed about contributing firsthand. Thankfully, we have a good portion of our summer free and have an opportunity to join Ron on his 71st trip to the Philippines from July 3rd – July 21st, 2018. Although I have limited experience preaching, I plan on preaching some lessons alongside Ron. In addition, Taya plans on utilizing her background in education by teaching women’s and children’s classes. Throughout the trip, I will spend approximately a week of my time shadowing fellow Christian physicians, Dr. Teresa Toreja and Dr. Cathy Forelo. From this experience, I will benefit my future patients by further developing my physical exam skills. More importantly, this experience will give me an opportunity to learn how to spread the gospel to patients I come into contact with in the United States.

As you can see, this trip will facilitate the growth in our faith and provide many opportunities to spread the gospel to the hungry souls of the Philippines. We would be honored if anyone could contribute to this cause. Based on estimated cost, our goal is to raise $7,000. All unused finances will be used to buy Bibles for Philippine brethren or for benevolence such as medical needs.
