Home Thursday Night – August 25, 2016
Dear brethren,
By God’s good grace and providence, I reached my home late Thursday night and I cannot help thinking of Psalm 107:8, “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” There are no adequate words to express my gratitude for the experience of working with Filipino saints whose faith, hope, and love are a constant source of inspiration. I will send out a report as soon as possible on the continuing harvest of souls in the Philippines.
I am recovering from the severe dehydration but more slowly from the laryngitis. I will not be able to take phone calls for the next couple of days and I am sure I cannot preach Sunday — my report to the brethren here will be delayed for a week.
I am painfully aware that many of you have sent emails and heard no response from me, but the intense Philippine schedule prevents me from handling correspondence in a timely way. There are dozens and dozens of emails I have not been able to read.
When I got home David, Starla, Joel, and Esther were here for a visit from Arkansas. Jonathan had been out of town and returned on a flight later than mine, and he stopped by the house to visit with us. Though I did not get to bed until almost 3:00 AM, it was a great joy to visit with all of them even if by only whispering. (But I must stop even whispering because it prolongs laryngitis.) It is uplifting to see that our children love and serve the Lord and God is blessing their lives in so many ways by His amazing providence.
Thank you to all the dear Filipino brethren who worked with me and helped me in numerous ways, and thank you to all the saints who make these trips possible by your prayers, support, and encouragement.
In Christian love,
Ron Halbrook
