July 1, 2026^th Year of Our Lord

Dear brethren,

By God’s loving providence, plans are well underway for my 95^th trip July 24-August 28 to preach the gospel in the Philippines since Jim McDonald first took me in 1995.  An evangelist from the Mariner Boulevard church of Christ in Spring Hill, FL, John Weaver, will join the work for his first time.     

Judaizing teachers insisted Gentiles must keep the Moses’ Law before baptism.  Paul met with all the Apostles to show their unity in preaching the gospel to all men without binding Moses’ Law.  Peter, James, and John gave Paul and Barnabas “the right hands of fellowship….Only they would that we should remember the poor” (Gal. 2:9-10).  While preaching the gospel, we must also serve the needs of suffering saints.  This trip will concentrate on preaching the truth and on encouraging poor saints hit by natural disasters on Mindanao. 

July 24-25 will find me flying from Louisville, KY and John from Tampa, FL to meet in Manila.  Sunday we will preach at the Edsa-Pasay church where James Paet labors . Monday will be used to repack boxes of study materials to ship ahead and to visit the Manila American Cemetery where thousands of U.S. servicemen from WW II are buried. We will speak at Kapitbahayan, Navotas on Tuesday with Elias Cruz. 

July 29 will bring us to Laoag City, the provincial capital of Ilocos Norte.  In addition to local saints, Rody and Tessie Gumpad will meet us. Then, July 30-August 1 John and I will split up to visit more churches. Since this is John’s first trip, Rody will accompany him.  On those three days, I will visit churches at Escoda, Marcos with Rex Bayaca, at Crispina with Jensen Pascua, at Capaniquian with Leon Villanueva, at Cacappian, Marcos with Angel Pascua, at Espiritu with Anselmo Esteban, and at  Imelda with Freddie Pascua.  John will visit Tanap with Roger Borja, San Nicolas with Francis Calastravo, Binacag and Barikir with Efren Ramos, Parado with Warner Macusi, and  Aguitap with Melisand Paguirigan. John and I will work with Rolando Salvador on Sunday at Calayab, Laoag City and at Baoa East, Batac City.

August 3-5 we will teach a series on Family Life with Egdon Sabio at Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.

Our return to Manila is on the 6^th so that John can fly home Friday.  Saturday I fly to Pagadian City in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur on the Island of Mindanao to meet Ezekiel Carino, evangelist for the Bogo church.He will bring me to preach on the Lord’s Day at Margosatubig with Jeffery Ordeniza and at Maraya with Junie Gocela.  With the help of Jonathan Carino and Jack Jaco, the series on Family Life will be taught Monday-Wednesday at the Bogo church. 

On the 14^th, I fly to Davao City in southern Mindanao.  All day preaching and singing is scheduled with the Downtown church where Sonni Dave Balbin and Connie Balbin labor on Saturday.  Schedules on Sunday-Monday are at Malagos with Gerry Caa and at Calinan Poblacion with Keith Alagano, with study and rest on the 18^th.  While traveling to Digos City on Wednesay, I will preach with Dondon Cadayona at Kitakal, Malungon, Sarangani.   August 20-21 will be spent with Franklin Isla at Bansalan, Davao del Sur including a one-day lectureship.  The 22^nd-23^rd is scheduled with Julie Notarte at Digos City including an appointment at the Kapatagan church with Ruel Malubay.  Jolly Julom and Salvador Pardo are planning for one day for lectures, and another day to visit churches on the 24^th– 25^th.

Mindanao has been scourged by drought, floods, and earthquakes.  We will try to encourage the saints! 

I return to Manila on the 26^th, buy Filipino Bibles the next day, and fly home on Friday, God willing.
