PLEASE SHARE THIS LETTER ON GOSPEL PREACHING IN THE PHILIPPINES!

Dear brethren,

The gospel of Christ will be preached July 3-August 2 on my 71st Philippine trip after Jim McDonald first took me in 1995.  Zach and Taya Martin will join the trip.  He will have finished his first year of medical school and she is a school teacher, but both put the highest priority on teaching God’s Word.  We go because precious souls seek God in the spirit of Psalm 63:1, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.”

After our arrival in Manila on July 4, the next morning Filipino brethren will assist us in repacking boxes of Bibles and study materials brought on the plane to be distributed as we travel and teach.

Friday and Saturday I will preach a series on The Bible Is the Word of God at Kaptibahayn, Navotas where Elias Cruz serves as an evangelist.  These lessons show we have the right 66 books of the Bible with nothing lost or added.  Zach will alternate on other topics and also use some time with Dr. Teresa Toreja to learn how medicine is practiced in a third-world country. Taya will teach ladies and children.

On Sunday, July 8, we will join the A.M. service at the Edsa-Pasay church, then the P.M. service in Paranaque City with Jimmy Battung.  To help Zach and Taya learn Philippine history and culture, Monday will be used to see the Jose Rizal Monument & Manila American Cemetery where WW II soldiers lie buried.

Tuesday we fly to Tuguegarao, Cagayan to work with Rody Gumpad and other brethren.  The series on The Bible Is the Word of God will be presented at the Metro Tuguegarao church on Wednesday-Thursday.  Zach again will alternate with me and visit Dr. Cathy Forelo.  Taya will teach ladies and children.

Rody will take us on July 13-14 to the Pamplona area to teach poor Negritos from remote mountain areas with Robinson Pulveras.  Zach will also visit with Dr. Cathy Forelo who works at a hospital in the area.

On Saturday afternoon we travel to Laoag City, Ilocos Norte to work for the next two days with Mat Sibayan and Vic Domingo in Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.  Passing through Manila, on Tuesday we fly to Cebu City, Cebu where Jonathan Carino labors in the gospel.  I will again teach on The Bible Is the Word of God at the Cebu City church on July 18-19, alternating with Zach.  He will squeeze in some time with Kris Carino who is a medical technician.  Taya will hold classes for ladies.  Friday we return to Manila so that Zach and Taya can fly home on Saturday.  Their lives will be changed forever – in many good ways!

I avoided Mindanao last year due to the Muslim uprising at Marawi.  The rebels were defeated last October and peace and order restored.  On the 21st I will fly to Davao City to preach on Sunday at Lower Madapo, Davao City where Robert Agsao is an evangelist.  I will visit the P.M. service of the Downtown church, New Matina, Davao City with Juanito and C.B. Balbin along with other good brethren.  Monday–Tuesday will be devoted to the series entitled The Bible Is the Word of God at the Downtown church.

Wednesday we travel to Kitakal, Malungon, Sarangani to work with Dondon & Sel (Sandoval) Cadayona.  They recently married and we will have lessons on the home.  Later that day we will arrive in General Santos City to preach for two days on The Bible Is the Word of God with Jolly Julom as host.  Traveling to Davao City, I will preach at Padada, Davao del Sur on July 28 and then work two days with Ben Canada at Kiblawan, Davao del Sur before returning to Manila on the 31st.  The next day I hope to purchase Bibles in Filipino dialects at the Philippine Bible Society, and return home August 2, God willing.
