Jonathan Carino Coronavirus Update
It was a joy to report that Jonathan Carino went home from the hospital to continue recovering from coronavirus. In response to the appeal for help with his medical bills, several generous donations have been made and those basic expenses will now be covered — and likely also medicines and follow-up visits to the doctor.
The bad news is that his son Kristoffer tested positive and will be quarantined for 14 days in a special section of the hospital where he works. We do not yet know what Kris’s expenses will be, but so far he has no symptoms and perhaps the costs will be minimal.
If it is agreeable to those of you who have donated to help Jonathan, any excess funds donated for his expenses will be applied to Kris’s expenses (or to medical needs of other Filipinos until the funds are exhausted).
We praise and thank God for the love shown by His saints for brethren facing such emergency needs. Truly, as Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Is it not an honor and a privilege to serve our brethren, knowing that we serve Christ our Savior himself by so doing?
Jonathan and his family wish to express their deepest gratitude for the sacrifices donors have made on his behalf.

Dear family, brethren, & friends,
We are thankful and happy to report that brother Jonathan Carino finally left the hospital Tuesday, July 21, to continue his recovery from coronavirus at home. See his message below. As you will see below, he left the hospital against the advice of the doctors. He went home to stop the bleeding financial artery caused by his medical and hospital expenses. His eligibility for certain discounts brought the current bill down to $6,500. By the grace of God, donors made it possible for me to send $2,500 to make a payment on this bill, leaving a balance of $4,000. We do not know yet what follow-up expenses Jonathan will face. Let us thank God his life was spared and pray for his complete recovery.
In Christian love,
Ron Halbrook
CORONAVIRUS UPDATE July 21, 2020
By God’s grace, I was allowed to go home last night after 17 days in confinement. I was diagnosed with severe COVID and thought that I will not be able to make it. I was having a difficulty in breathing. I was given a drug that they found was effective for COVID patients, but they were only going to give me 2 doses. It was at that point that my condition started to improve. The doctors also advised that I be transfused with convalescent plasma. My children started to post on Facebook to help us look for a donor, and by the providence of God, we were able to secure a bag of convalescent plasma, since this was very hard to find because the donor must be a COVID survivor and must have a high antibody count for COVID. After the transfusion, I felt an improvement in my health.
The only concern that the doctors have now is that I have a low oxygen level. They wanted me to stay confined in the hospital because of this, but I decided to be discharged and continue my recovery at home. I am now doing breathing exercises to remedy this issue because my breathing is still not normal.
Regarding Nanette and my children, they are all still under quarantine in the house but are doing fine. And by God’s help, they have no symptoms.
I continue to solicit prayers on my behalf, especially my breathing problem that it will return to normal.
I thank God for the prayers of all saints from around the world on my behalf.
Praise the Lord for His wonderful mercies.
Because of Him,
John and Family
