Damaged building at Pagudpud

Front of building at Pagudpud

Abraham Aguete (Caunayan, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte 2919, Republic of the Philippines) with the local brethren labored and sacrificed, and some Americans added funds, in order to construct a church building for the saints meeting at Pagudpud in the Ilocos Norte Province.  I have preached there and this is a good stable church.

The typhoon season brought heavy rains in the fall of 2009.  This resulted in mud slides which did serious damage to the building.

Mudslide damage

Before the brethren could assess what to do, it was necessary to expend much time, effort, and money removing the mud!  The brethren did as much as they could by hand, shovel, and buckets, but finally a front loader had to be hired to remove the heavy gooey mess.

More damage from the mud

They must rebuild.  Their tragedy is our opportunity to help those who help themselves.
